Beauty Without Brains

I was 10 when I first heard this declaration, for days I kept on pondering over it over and over again but the brain was too frail to congregate things at that time. So I continued to be clueless for years, but the only thing that I did prudently was to stare at my face in the mirror from all the dimensions and tried to place myself in some category. The statement said that ‘’gorgeous and striking faces are born with a supplementary lead, they take an edge everywhere they go’’. With every passing day of my life, I comprehended the genuineness and intensity of this line. The calamity with mankind is that they draw conclusions on the basis of whatever they see; this is because of the same hideous tendency that they express a pitiless nausea on sighting the black shades of some skins, stub noses on some faces, tiny pair of eyes, short statures and fat bodies. It is one of the triumphs of this mighty human breed that they have invented this word ‘’UGLY’’ and they use it audaciously wherever and whenever they think they should. For all my life I saw the attractive and nice looking faces truly taking an EDGE. The waiting queues grew shorter for them even if they joined in at the end, they literally were given the right to speak up even when they didn’t have anything constructive to share, they were the intelligent ones even if they were dumb and they almost all the time over-shadowed the ones who were average or below average face as per the formula of this world. More than half of the companies want decoration pieces; these beauties are the ones setting standards and icons for the rest! But nature has one rule too, the less privileged in ones sphere of life are bestowed with some other extra-ordinary quirks so as to make this whole system impartial and nondiscriminatory.  So there is no big deal in having a beautiful face but the miracle happens when the ones who lack behind in the beauty game stand up for themselves and when they turn a deaf ear to the hardnosed comments around them and when they start loving the skins they are in and when they actually start to trust that they too are humans with a little different packaging and when they force the world to look beyond their faces.

As it is rightly said that the beauty captures the attention and personality captures the heart. So dear friends, at the end of the story everyone in this world wants a perfect blend of beauty and brains. It’s as if there is a BMW without driving lights and an engine!

Sidra Sheikh

I'm a graduate, though my majors have got nothing to do with the creative writing and stuff I still take an immense pleasure in giving words to my thoughts and it is a source of ventilation for me! observing the things that happen around and finding the grotesque patches of this world is meaningless until and unless we exert to bring a minute change, for me writing is my tool!

  1. emmeline says:

hmm, im touched sidra, u know Confucius quotes that ‘every thing made by God has beauty, but not every one sees it’ . we all have set our standards around beauty n appearance but God has not made everyone perfect he indeed balance the world , beauty leaves u one day but ur brains n deeds do not………………………………

  2. noor fatima says:

    really gud

  3. Well Sidra, I totally respect your thoughts but I thought this article is just discriminatory against Beautiful people. The people who are beautiful (according to the world) aren’t always dumb or brain-less. And you don’t always get what you want if you are beautiful and I have seen really beautiful girls standing in long queues just like other people. So please excuse my boldness, but this article was a bit harsh on beautiful people. And I personally think that everyone in this world is beautiful in their own way and the people who think that they are not beautiful have these complexes deep down inside them. It’s not the world they should blame for holding them back or not letting them achieve things, it’s simply their complexes that have brought their confidence/ self esteem level so down. But I really like your writing style and please don’t mind as it’s just my personal opinion.

  4. thanku Emmeline and Noor Fatima:) And lizzy you have all the rights to express what you feel, I don’t mind it all:) but heret i’m trying to highlight the clan of those beautiful people who undermine and overwhelm the one’s who don’t have bright looks.. I personally know many gorgeous faces who are intelligent and humble about what they have and I love and adore their beauty.. The purpose of this writing is merely to give a jolt to those who think and believe that the good looks they have is their own personal triumph and if somebody is not blessed with a beautiful face is a culprit and worthy of all criticism. I don’t mean to be sarcastic and harsh on anybody:)) thanx alot for giving it a read.

  5. All that glitters is not gold……..

  6. A very strongly opinionated piece of writing sidra..and I do agree with you.Beauty is something that a person is blessed with, its something to be thankful of and not proud. Its the personality and abilities actualy which make a person a complete package :)
