8 Ways Of Staying Healthy In Winters

winter

Winter brings holidays, bad eating habits like a lot of hot chocolate, sweets and coffee, laziness, viral and bacterial infections, and so many other problems. That is why staying healthy in freezing cold winters is not an easy task. So here are some tips for staying healthy in this cold harsh season.

Keep Hygiene In Mind

Take a bath at least four times a week and wash you hands frequently as it helps to stay away from germs, viral and bacterial infections. Viruses and bacteria can live for hours on surfaces touched by an infected person so don’t forget to wash your hands and stay healthy.

Stay Hydrated

Keep your body hydrated. Drink the optimal amount of water. Decreased water intake and increased winter coffee and hot chocolate intake in winters contribute to dehydration, so watch out your water intake this winter and stay hydrated.

Take A Healthy Diet

There are so many yummy and healthy fresh seasonal fruits, vegetables in winters so add them in your daily diet. Eat and enjoy fruits/vegetables and drink fresh juices. Eating green vegetables improves immune defenses and provides beneficial phytochemicals as well as vitamins, minerals and fiber. Eating or drinking citrus fruits or juices is really good for weight loss, it can help you shed a few extra pounds from your body. Citrus fruits are also a good source of folate and potassium, with small amounts of magnesium, calcium, and other nutrients. They are often rich in fiber — notably pectin, a soluble fiber that helps lower cholesterol.

Aviod Junk food

In winters, the craving of junk food increases so there is a great probability of gaining weight and ending up with more calories than your body can burn. If you live on a diet of chocolate, cakes, crisps, sweets, convenience meals and fast food then you are developing high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. So cut the the amount of junk food and take a balanced diet rather than eating junk food and stay healthy.

Add Herbal Tea To Your Daily Diet

Herbal tea has many benefits. Apart from all the health benefits, it can also be used for shedding those extra pounds. It has high concentrations of catechin polyphenols, which intensifies levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis, where heat is created in the body by burning fuels such as fat. Drinking green tea daily would increase your metabolism and help burn fat safely and naturally.

Exercise Regularly

In winters we become extremely lazy bed bugs and just want to hibernate in our beds but this is definitely not a very good way to spend winter. It is important to exercise regularly, even if only for 15 minutes a day! Get out and take a short walk and enjoy the cold weather or do some indoor exercise.

Encourage Yourself For Physical Activity

Just go out and enjoy the snow or some amazing winter sports/activities. Enjoy outdoor sports such as sledding, skiing, snowboarding etc, or your can take a part in indoor sports like ice skating or ice hockey etc. These activities will keep you active and healthy.

Wear Proper Warm Clothes

Cover yourself properly, wear warm clothes and shoes to aviod cold, flu, fever and such kind of problems. Be prepared to recognize the signs of hypothermia. The first stage of hypothermia is shivering of the body. Shivering is the body’s natural reaction to cold. It produces heat. A person in this stage of hypothermia should move closer to artificial heat, eat hot food or add more clothing.
